Warner Bros. on Saturday released the latest trailer for The Batman, which is set to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. The new look features plenty of new footage following what was previously released, and expands upon what to expect from Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight.
One thing the trailer makes clear is this younger Bruce Wayne is very raw. His suit is more armored and less refined; his vehicle a fiery meteor of destruction; and then there’s Batman, vengeance personified. Pattinson’s character can barely contain his anger, and there are a few moments when it looks as though he nearly loses control. Every punch is thrown with the intention to incapacitate.
In addition to establishing a dark, gritty mood, The Batman trailer also provides a look at Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, along with Paul Dano as the Riddler and Andy Serkis as Alfred. And who can forget about Oswald Cobblepot, who you wouldn’t know was being played by Colin Farrell unless someone told you. It’s a terrific cast, topped off with the always excellent Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon.
There are a lot of memorable moments in the trailer, from Batman absorbing a maelstrom of bullets to the Dark Knight giving a rain-soaked beatdown to a gang of Insane Clown Posse-adjacent fans.
So far, things are looking good for Batman in the post Snyder-Verse era. We won’t know until the movie is released next year, but is looks like the Dark Knight might finally come out of the very big shadow cast by Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale.
