Ant-Man and the Wasp stands largely on its own as the 20th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows up on the events of Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War, but its reliance on the broader MCU is minimal. There are no significant appearances by other big name heroes, after all.
When Ant-Man and the Wasp was first being written, however, Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) friend, Cap[tain America], had a hilarious cameo. Chris Evans almost got to be a player in Luis’ (Michael Peńa) retelling of Scott’s history to Sonny Burch (Walton Goggins).
