Filmmaker Gore Verbinski has exited the Channing Tatum X-Men spinoff, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Verbinski is just one of a number of directors who have been attached (and then left) the project. Verbinski joined the movie in October following departures of Rupert Wyatt in October 2015 and Doug Liman in August 2016.

Lizzy Caplan is in talks to join the cast of “Gambit,” Variety has learned. The “Masters of Sex” star will play the female lead in the superhero movie. Details of her part are being kept under wraps.

Gambit always was known for being a romantic, so it’s only appropriate that his movie is opening on Valentine’s Day. 20th Century Fox has set a Feb. 14, 2019 release date for Gambit, the X-Men spinoff starring Channing Tatum.
