Marvel Studios received one Oscar® nomination for its 2016 films, a Best Visual Effects nod for Doctor Strange. Stephane Ceretti (visual effects supervisor), Richard Bluff (visual effects supervisor: ILM), Vincent Cirelli (visual effects supervisor: Luma Pictures), and Paul Corbould (special effects supervisor) were all recognized for their work on Doctor Strange. They were not, however, the only Marvel Cinematic Universe alumni to be nominated today.
While it may not have been for their work in the MCU, several contributors to our favorite shared universe had their names called today. It is a testament to their individual efforts, of course, but also fun to look at the wealth of talent that has brought the MCU to life over the years.
Spider-Man: Homecoming recently passed Wonder Woman at the box office, and this weekend it passed Marvel’s own Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to become 2017’s biggest superhero movie.
The Batman Day posts just keep on coming! We’ve heard from Justice League director Zack Snyder, composer Danny Elfman, and now Ben Affleck’s Batman stunt double Albert Valladares has shared a behind-the-scenes photo from the upcoming movie.
It’s Batman Day, and Justice League director Zack Snyder took time out of his day to celebrate on the mobile app Vero. “Happy Batman day, #batfleck [is] the best Batman ever,” Snyder wrote.
Kiersey Clemons recently described her Justice League scenes as “f*cking sick”, but fans may never get to see them. Sources tell Batman News that Clemons’ character Iris West has been cut from the movie.
In the latest issue of Total Film, the date for the ultra-violent vigilante’s return is given as October 13.
